Fell Running
The club has a thriving fell running section with members competing all over the country as well as oversees. We are fortunate enough to have some of our members selected to represent the country at International level.
Our members frequently train on the fells from our huts, all of which are ideally situated.
We promote three fell races;
- The Old County Tops (click for more info)
- New Dungeon Ghyll Fell Race (click for more info)
- The Grisdale Horseshoe
Every September we promote the Grisdale Horseshoe Fell Race from Glenridding. This is a 10 mile fell run with 5,000 feet of climbing. The first top is Catstye Cam followed by Helvellyn, Dollywaggon, Grisedale Tarn and then St Sunday Crag. The return journey is via Grisedale Beck to Hole in the Wall and back to Glenridding Village Hall for a welcome cup of tea, soup and a butty.
We have a club Handicap Fell Race which is held in September from the Campsite in Great Langdale to the top of Lingmoor and back.
There is also a Club Fell Running Championship, which runs throughout the year. Click here for more info.
